1-1
This is psalm with sound advice for all, but in particular with business leaders where the opportunities to bend the rules are numerous. Do not start on the slippery path!
“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.”
(verse 1)
This first line describes the natural process of decline in behaviour if one starts to stray from the true path of righteousness.
First you start to mix with those who already have compromised their integrity in some way or another, so you begin to talk like them, espouse the same slightly off centre views on life and practices. OK this is just you casually mixing with associates, you walk with them. BUT if you are not careful you are not just walking with them you are standing with them. Your identity to their group and its values becomes normal and then behold you sit down with them and fully identify yourself with them. And as the Psalm states suddenly you are mocking others who do not identify with your now wicked practices.
It is good for us to walk with those who do not know the Lord, but hold your counsel, you know the truth, so walk not in their counsel but in the truth.
