“The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; those the Lord blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be cut off ”
(verse 21-22)
We are reminded that we are called to be ‘generous’ with the blessings that the Lord has provided for us, do not start to make excuses about providing for a rainy day and delay any tithing that you should be doing. Good financial planning is essential, but ensure that you plan for your tithes. Prayerfully consider where your tithes should go and never be precise in calculating your 10%, for you would not want God to behave in the same manner towards you. Always exceed and do so joyfully. When times are tight and you cannot tithe then be relaxed, as the Lord knows your heart. Do what little you can do. Many people tithe money only but also give of your time. You do not have any spare time? If I walk in the way of the Lord and His ways are perfect then there is sufficient time for me to do what He would want me to do. We have no excuses. Psalm 119 v 29 asks God to keep us from deceit, to be honest with ourselves. I can from experience tell you that when I have obeyed God and laid work aside to go and visit someone then the work afterwards always goes smoothly while if I do not go as I am too busy, then the work goes awry and takes me so much longer to do. I have learnt that it pays to obey!
“If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
(verse 23-24)
This does not mean that in trusting in the Lord that all will be smooth and perfect. I always think of the Lord’s walk to Calvary. He knew that what he was doing was the Father’s will, and he was firm in this knowledge, he stumbled under the load he was bearing, but he was upheld in this knowledge and understanding. If we can know the Father’s will in our own business lives then we can walk firmly through all situations and know that if we stumble that the Father’s hand will be there to uphold us. Commit your plans for your business to the Lord.
